Putting 2020 behind us and looking ahead

What an extraordinary year it has been. We have picked our way through the ever-changing landscape and, like many other businesses, faced up to new challenges in innovative ways to keep ourselves relevant and help those less fortunate. As the light at the end of the tunnel gets ever brighter, all of us here at Hudson Group sincerely hope that you and your family remain healthy.

When the chimes on Big Ben rang in 2020 – it seems an eternity ago - nobody knew what lay ahead. But as the pandemic unfolded, it became clear that to survive all businesses needed to adapt. For us, we quickly pivoted to design and produce new products that the situation demanded. We developed special dividing screens for COVID ward beds; sanitiser stations for businesses; new Perspex protection screens and floor vinyl for social distancing enforcement.

Recognising the pressure everyone was facing, we provided much of the above free of charge to charities. Our team also deserve great credit for mucking in and printing hundreds of scrub patterns and PPC naming tags for local NHS staff, for free.

We reported recently how those community efforts, which have always been part of our company culture, were rewarded with a UK Business Hero accolade from the Chamber of Commerce. You can read about that in this article here, and we remain grateful that our team was recognised in this way; we are very fortunate to have good people around us across all of our 3 sites, including our Regent Publicity team in West Bromwich.

It kept our teams busy and meant we could continue to serve our customers, although clearly, demand was lower than usual. That said, we had one enormous project that kept our metal fabrication division busy. A resort in St Vincent ordered a huge sign looking out to the turquoise waters of the Caribbean, and our team completed it, shipped it and oversaw its fitting on site ( Our full case study will follow in early 2021 on this project, this was HUGE) .

The overriding value of our efforts, however, is that we are still here and in good shape to serve you, our loyal customers when life gets back to something like normal. We know conditions are tough out there, but as the economy picks up, there is no better time for a new, fresh beginning. New signage, vehicle wraps, branded gifts or workwear will present your company and team in a fresh light that says: “We’re still here and we mean business.”
